Jewett Spinal Brace Patients Guide
IntroductionThe Jewett Hyperextension brace helps to control spinal posture. Often prescribed for compression fractures or fractures on the anterior aspect of the spine. The brace promotes healing and reduces pain by providing stability to the spine. It will remind you to keep your back upright and straight. |

ApplicationThe Jewett can be put on either by lying or sitting. This will be dictated by your physician. When lying, roll onto the back pad without twisting or bending your back. To close the straps, insert the right keyhole piece over the pin and pull firmly. Flip the latch on the other side to tighten the brace on. If the brace ‘rides up’ or twists, it is too loose. The brace must be worn very tight. |
