What are the funding services?
Help from NDIS
Whether your NDIS funding is Self Managed, Plan Managed or NDIA Managed, we pride ourselves on working with you to achieve your goals, maximise your independence and help you live the life you wish to live. The NDIS can support you with a wide range of musculoskeletal supports and prosthetic devices.
The NDIS is for those who are:
- Under 65 years of age (at time of admission to the NDIS)
- Have a permanent disability
- Require support for the rest of their lives
3 ways to manage your NDIS Funding:
1. Self Managed
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) provides you with funding so you can purchase supports that will best help you meet your plan goals. You will be able to navigate the portal for payment and pay your provider directly for reviews, consumables and services provided.
2. Plan Managed
The NDIA pays your Plan Management Agency (third party), who will pay your providers (like us) for you. You get to choose a Plan Management Agency to manage your funds.
3. NDIA Managed
The NDIA pays your providers on your behalf. If funds are available in your plan, your provider can submit service bookings and requests for the funds required for all services, consumables and Assistive Technology (AT) devices directly through the NDIS portal. As the payment can be accessed immediately, this speeds up the provision to you.
It is important to note that with NDIA Managed Funding, only NDIS registered providers can access this funding.

Frequently asked NDIS / Funding questions
NDIS & Funding
I am new to the NDIS and don’t fully understand how I can use my funding for my orthotic or prosthetic needs – can you help me understand my plan?
Absolutely! We are highly experienced in assisting our NDIS clients to better understand your plans and funding. Our aim is to always support you in achieving your individual goals by providing the most suitable orthotic or prosthetic equipment. Just ask us how we can help!
I don’t have any Assistive Technology in my NDIS plan – can you still help me?
Yes, we most definitely can. We can arrange an appointment with one of our clinicians who can make an assessment. We can then provide a recommendation report for the NDIS to include Assistive Technology for your individual support needs in your next NDIS plan or forthcoming Plan Review.
Why is it useful to provide my NDIS Plan to my clinician?
We appreciate that an NDIS plan is a personal document, however by attaching a copy of your NDIS plan (Plan dates, goals and all 3 Budget Support areas; especially the Capital (Assistive Technology) Budget, we can provide the most suitable supports and ensure that we are working within the funding available.
What is a Service Agreement and why should I sign one?
A Service Agreement is between you, as the client and oapl, as the provider, which details the supports (Assistive Technology equipment and devices) and service which we will provide using your NDIS Plan and Funding.
It also outlines areas including the oapl Cancellation Policy for appointments and services, how we charge for any travel related service outside of our clinic locations and how to provide any feedback or complaints about our service, either directly or to the NDIA.
(For further information on a Participant’s rights & responsibilities under the NDIS, please refer to our Policies section)
We will typically provide you with a Service Agreement and ask you to sign it following an initial appointment. By signing the Service Agreement, you are agreeing to the conditions of our service as set out in the Agreement. Always feel free to ask at any stage for your clinician to further clarify any part of this Service Agreement.
Are there Medicare rebates for Orthotic services?
No, Orthotics are not currently a service subsidised by the Medicare Subsidy Scheme. However, Orthotic services are recognised as an essential health service and there are a number of other government subsidy schemes available to assist you in financing necessary orthotic care. Your Orthotist can discuss these options with you at your initial appointment.
Are orthoses covered by my private health insurance?
This will be dependent on the level of private health insurance you currently hold. You are best to speak with your health insurer directly to ascertain this information.
We can also provide you with a quote after your initial assessment so you can discuss the specifics with your insurance provider.
